Posted: August 27th, 2013 @ 10:05pm

Capital Region Axemen dropped both their games Tuesday at the President's Cup lacrosse tournament in Kahnawake.

The Axemen are 1-2 in the preliminary round of the seven-team Canadian senior B championship, after dropping a 16-12 decision to the Caughnawaga Indians in the morning and a 14-10 verdict to the Calgary Mountaineers in the afternoon.

Kingston minor lacrosse product Tim Bergin had a goal and two assists for the Axemen in the morning contest. Capital Region scored the first two goals of the game but found itself trailing 6-3 at the end of the first period and 11-8 at the end of the second.

In the nightcap, Bergin had a goal and five assists and current Kingston Kings junior C coach Mike Dube had two goals and four points against Calgary. The Axemen fell behind 3-0 in the first seven minutes and they trailed 4-3 after 20 minutes and 9-6 after 40.

Wednesday, the Axemen, Quebec Senior Lacrosse League finalists, resume play against the Ontario representative, the St. Catharines Saints, at 2 p.m. The Saints, after a 12-5 win Tuesday over the Onondaga Redhawks, are 2-0 in the preliminary round-robin.

The top four teams will advance into semifinal play Saturday.
