Mike Dube scores twice in losing cause for Axemen
Posted: August 30th, 2013 @ 2:30pm
Capital Region Axemen will end their schedule at the President's Cup lacrosse tournament in Kahnawake, Que., this afternoon when they face the winless Nanaimo Timbermen.
The Axemen bowed from contention for the Canadian senior B championship Thursday night when they dropped an 11-5 decision to the Quebec senior league champion Kahnawake Mohawks.
It was the fourth loss in five games for the Axemen in the round-robin preliminary round at the week-long five-team tournament.
Mike Dube, coach of the junior C Kingston Kings, had two of the Capital Region goals. Kingston minor lacrosse product Tim Bergin had a goal and an assist.
Callum Crawford, the Nepean junior B coach who had 32 goals and 95 points for Minnesota in the National Lacrosse League this year, had a goal and four assists for Kahnawake.
For the tournament hosts, it was the third win in five games. The last remaining undefeated team, St. Catharines Saints, began the final day of play 5-0. Caughnawaga Indians, the first team to complete its preliminary-round schedule, did so at 5-1. Related Articles:
