Taylor Clements scores four times as Gaels defeat Laurentian

Taylor Clements scored four goals - three of them in a row in the final eight minutes of the game - to lead the Queen's Golden Gaels to a 6-3 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs Saturday night in an Ontario University Athletics hockey game in Sudbury.
Clements, a second-year arts student and centre who played junior hockey for the St. Michael's Buzzers, had eight goals in 28 games as a rookie last year. His second goal of the game Saturday night broke a 3-3 tie at 12:08 of the third period. He added a power-play goal five minutes later and sealed the victory with an empty-net tally in the game's final minute.
Kelly Jackson, with his fourth goal of the young season - and third of the weekend - and Jordan Soquilla, with his third goal of the year, scored the other goals for Queen's, which took a 2-0 lead in the first period but fell behind when Laurentian scored in the final two minutes of the second period and twice in the first four minutes of the third.
Nick Esposito and Marc-Alain Begin each had a goal and an assist for the Voyageurs.
Braden Corbeth had three assists for Queen's, which, at 3-0-2, remains one of only two teams in Ontario without a regulation defeat. Chris Clarke made 25 saves for the goaltending win, as the Gaels outshot the home team 33-28.
On Friday in North Bay, Jackson had two first-period goals and later added an assist to lead the Gaels to a 6-4 win over the Nipissing Lakers. Soquilla, Corey Bureau, Corbeth and Patrick McEachen scored the other Queen's goals.
Dorian Peca scored twice for Nipissing, 0-5, while Connor O'Donnell had a goal and three assists.
The Gaels led 2-0 after the first period and 5-2 after the second but two goals in the first half of the third period drew the Lakers within one. McEachen's goal with 50 seconds to play cemented the win. Kevin Baillie made 34 to claim the goaltending victory, as the teams each took 38 shots on the opponent's goal.

With three goals in a 76-second span midway through the third period, the Trois-Rivieres Patriotes broke open a one-goal game and they went on to defeat the Royal Military College Paladins 7-3 Saturday in Trois-Rivieres, Que.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first period and 4-1 early in the second, RMC rallied with goals by Scott Domenico and Paul Fone three minutes apart midway through the period. The Paladins hung with the perennial national power until they finally wilted under a 17-shot third-period barrage.
Paladins goaltender Evan Deviller was peppered with 54 shots - 24 of them in the second period - while his teammates mustered 26 on the Trois-Rivieres goal.
Jake Bullen had RMC's other goal and an assist. Brendan Wright had two assists as the Paladins slipped to 0-6. Tommy Tremblay had two goals and Billy Lacasse had three assists for Trois-Rivieres, which improved to 3-3.
In Montreal Friday night, the Concordia Stingers scored four goals in the third period to put the final stamp on a 10-6 victory over RMC.
The Paladins trailed 2-1 when they allowed a goal with just four seconds left in the first period. They allowed Concordia to score a little more than a minute after Scott Domenico's goal cut the gap to 3-2 and the Stingers scored twice in the final 70 seconds of the second period to take a four-goal lead into the third.
Jessyco Bernard had a six-point night for Concordia. He and Olivier Hinse, who had a five-point game, each scored twice.
Chris Smerek and Mathieu Lavallee scored the other goals for RMC, which was outshot 41-21.
Queen's and RMC both resume play Friday night, when the Gaels visit Ottawa and the Paladins host No. 5-ranked McGill.
