Hockey Gaels get overtime win in Guelph

A goal by Corey Bureau after 96 seconds of overtime gave the Queen's Golden Gaels a 4-3 win over the Guelph Gryphons in an Ontario University Athletics hockey game Friday night in Guelph.
The win, the third in a row for Queen's, boosted the Gaels' record to 6-0-4, as the Gaels remain the only team in Ontario - and just one of four in Canada - not to have been beaten in regulation time this year.
It was also the first overtime win for a team that has had five of its 10 games so far this year go beyond the third period. To date, Queen's is 1-1 in overtime, and 0-3 in shootouts.
Friday night in Guelph, each team scored once in each period and extra time again loomed when Jordan Mock scored for the Gryphons with less than six minutes to play in the third period.
Bureau scored on the only shot of overtime.
Patrick McEachen, Harrison Hendrix and Tyler Moore, with his first goal of the season, also scored for Queen's, who trailed 1-0 and 2-1, but took a 3-2 lead when Moore scored 12 minutes into the third period.
Kevin Baillie got the goaltending win, as Queen's outshot the home team 29-28.
The win leaves Queen's one point ahead of McGill in the East division standings, pending the outcome of McGill's game Friday at Brock. Guelph fell to 5-5-1.
Meanwhile, the Ryerson Rams returned from their self-imposed seven-day suspension with a vengeance, whipping the Royal Military College Paladins 7-1 in Toronto.
Ryerson scored two shorthanded goals in the first 24 minutes of the game - one of them with 24 seconds left in the first period - as they built a 4-0 lead. Domenic Alberqa and Dustin Alcock scored two goals each for the Rams, who outshot RMC 59-17, including 24-6 in the second period.
RMC's Eric Louis-Seize spoiled the Ryerson shutout bid with his second goal of the year, on a power play with a little more than five minutes left in the game.
Saturday night, the Gaels will visit the Western Mustangs who, with a 7-2 win at home Friday night over Ontario Tech, improved their record to 6-3. RMC, 0-10, will visit the Toronto Blues. With Dalhousie, the Paladins are one of only two teams in Canada yet to win a game this year.
