Holy Cross seeded fifth for OFSAA basketball

Holy Cross Crusaders are seeded fifth for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations boys AAA basketball championship tournament. The tournament draw was released Thursday morning.

The Crusaders will play No. 15 Huntsville at 10 a.m. Monday in Windsor

The tournament will run through Wednesday. London's Catholic Central is the top-seeded team in the 16-team event.

Holy Cross has the top seed among three Kingston-area teams bound for their respective provincial championships.

Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers are seeded eighth for the girls AAA volleyball tournament, also being played in Windsor, where the host Assumption team is the No. 1 seed. The Panthers' first game is Monday morning at 10:30 against ninth-seeded St. Charles.

La Salle Black Knights are seeded 10th in the boys AA basketball tournament in York Region. The Knights will begin play in Richmond Hill Monday afternoon at 4:30 against No. 9 Eden of St. Catharines. La Salle is one of two eastern Ontario schools at the tournament - No. 12 Arnprior is the other - where Mere-Theresa of Hamilton is the top seed.

In the single-A boys basketball tournament in North Bay, Rideau District of Elgin will begin play as the No. 9 seed. The Lions will open at 11 a.m. Monday against third-seeded Timmins O'Gorman.

The OFSAA wrestling championships will be contested next Wednesday and Thursday in Guelph.
