Queen's women drop 70-56 decision to Toronto
Posted: January 12th, 2014 @ 12:46am
Held to just six points in the second quarter, the Queen's Golden Gaels found themselves in a 16-point hole by the time the first half was done Saturday and they could not recover, dropping a 70-56 decision to the Toronto Blues in an Ontario University Athletics women's basketball game at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
It was the second loss in two nights for the Gaels, who entered the weekend on a five-game winning streak. Toronto improved to 5-7.
The game was a charity fundraising event for the Gaels, who maintained the charitable theme throughout the game, committing 20 turnovers. They also managed to score on just three of 18 shots from beyond the three-point line.
Hometown products Jenny Wright and Liz Boag led the Gaels with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Robyn Pearson had eight points and a game-best 13 rebounds.
Jill Stratton scored 25 points for Toronto.
The Gaels will resume play Friday at Laurentian. Related Articles:
