Hockey Crusaders improve to 7-0
Posted: February 11th, 2014 @ 11:49pm
Holy Cross Crusaders withstood a late charge by the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers to post a 3-2 win Tuesday in a Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association boys hockey game at Cataraqui Community Centre.
After a scoreless first period, goals by Wyatt Plain, Hunter Drew and Devon King gave the Crusaders a 3-0 lead five and a half minutes into the third period. Mike McKitrick, during a five-on-three power play, and Joey Mayer, on what was left of the same power play, scored to lift Regi to within one goal but in the final 38 seconds the Panthers could not put the equalizer past Holy Cross goalie Matt Villalta.
The Crusaders improved their league-leading record to 7-0, while Regi slipped to 5-2. Related Articles:
