Overtime win gives Queen's sweep of women's hockey quarter-final

A goal by Kyla Crouse at 6:33 of the second overtime period Saturday night gave the Queen's Golden Gaels a 3-2 victory over the Windsor Lancers and a two-game sweep of their best-of-five Ontario University Athletics women's hockey quarter-final.
The Gaels, the No. 9-ranked team in Canada that finished fourth in the regular season, await an opponent that will be determined by the outcome of the deciding game Sunday of the Toronto-Western quarter-final.
Jenny MacKnight, the league's leading scorer in the regular year, opened scoring in the game's eighth minute for Windsor. Goals by Courtenay Jacklin, on a deflection on a 5-on-3 power play, and Jessica Wakefield five and a half minutes apart gave the Gaels a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.
After a scoreless second period, the Lancers forced overtime when Kayla Dodson scored with just five minutes left in regulation time. The first overtime period, one in which Windsor outshot Queen's 2-1, was also scoreless.
The Gaels were almost betrayed by their power play, which despite the goal by Jacklin, scored just once with the player advantage though the Lancers took nine minor penalties. Among the squandered opportunities were a four-minute power play in the second period, and overlapping penalties in overtime, when Windsor skated two players short for 63 seconds.
Queen's did, however, manage to keep Erinn Noseworthy off the scoresheet in the series. Noseworthy shared the league lead with 16 goals this season, but she did not get a point in either game.
Queen's outshot the visitors 29-25, as Mel Dodd-Moher outduelled Windsor's Marissa Kozovski for the goaltending win.
The Gaels were skating without their injured captain, Morgan McHaffie. The second-leading scorer in OUA history, McHaffie is expected to return for the semifinals.
