Justin Chapdelaine signs pro contract with CFL team in Ottawa

Queen's Golden Gaels receiver Justin Chapdelaine has signed a contract with the CFL's newest team, the Ottawa RedBlacks.
After attending the Canadian Football League scouting combine in Toronto last March, Chapdelaine was not drafted. He returned for his fifth and final intercollegiate season and helped Queen's reach the Yates Cup final.
"I went through my last season playing at Queen's not expecting to continue my football career," Chapdelaine said, in a release from the university, "but I was ecstatic when I received the call. I'm not finished with this football thing just yet."
Chapdelaine came to Queen's from Abbotsford, B.C., in 2009 and he was the backup to quarterback Danny Brannagan in the Vanier Cup game that year. After a year as the Gaels' No. 1 quarterback, Chapdelaine was switched to receiver in 2011 and he had his best season in 2012, when he was a second-team Ontario University Athletics all-star with 36 receptions.
He finished his career at Queen's with 15 touchdowns.
His father, Jacques Chapdelaine, a former coach and offensive co-ordinator in the CFL, was recently named coach at Simon Fraser University.
