Posted: March 4th, 2014 @ 3:16pm

Rideau District Lions bowed from the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations single-A boys basketball tournament in Timmins Tuesday when they dropped a 70-42 decision to Kings Christian of Oakville.

Caleb Rice scored 11 points for Rideau, which surrendered 30 points in the first quarter, trailed 38-22 at halftime and then saw any comeback aspirations evaporate in a third quarter where it scored just four points.

Kings, the No. 3 seed at the 16-team tournament and last year's silver medalist, won its second game in a row.

The Lions, the competition's 14th-seeded team, comes home 0-2. In its opening game Monday, Rideau dropped a 61-51 decision to No. 8 E.J. Lajeunesse of Windsor. The Lions led 15-14 after the first quarter but they scored just four points in the second quarter to trail 30-19 at halftime.

Rice, with 17 points, and Chad Parker, with 12, led Rideau.
