Kings sign four players for coming lacrosse season
Posted: April 11th, 2014 @ 1:03am
Kingston Kings Friday announced the signing of their first four players for the 2014 Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League season. Returning to the Kings are second-year juniors Zach Masterson, Jonah Lewis, Austin Maracle and Kaleb Bingley.
Masterson, 17, is a graduate of the Kingston Lacrosse Association. With Maracle and Lewis, he was a member of the Kingston Krossfire team that won the OLA midget D championship in 2012.
The team's third-leading career scorer among active players, Masterson has 23 goals and 51 points in 29 junior games, and last year he had four goals and four assists in three playoff games, as he was involved in eight of the Kings' 17 post-season goals.
Maracle, 17, from Tyendinaga, had two assists last year, a season in which he played mostly a defensive role.
Lewis, 18, also from Tyendinaga, had three goals and nine points in his rookie junior season in 2013.
Bingley, 17, from Perth, led the team with 62 minutes in penalties last year. He scored six goals and 11 points in 12 regular-season games, though he also was used mostly as a defensive player.
The Kings will continue open tryouts the next two Wednesdays, 9 p.m., at Wally Elmer Youth Centre. They'll play a preseason game Friday, May 2, when they will host the Gloucester Griffins at Centre 70, and open their regular season May 8 at Cornwall. Related Articles:
