Kings announce 2013 schedule

Posted: March 6th, 2013 @ 12:33pm

Kingston Kings will open their 2013 Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League schedule Thursday, May 9, when they host the Gloucester Griffins at Centre 70.

The league has been realigned this year from three divisions to two, with former Central division teams Peterborough, Whitby and two-time defending league champion Clarington joining Kingston, Gloucester, Brockville and Cornwall to create a seven-team East division.

The other teams from the Central division, Mimico, Huntsville and Innisfil, are now part of a nine-team West division.

Hoping to improve on a 5-11 record they posted in 2012, the Kings will be busy at the start of the schedule. They have four games in the first eight days, travelling to Peterborough and Clarington before returning home to host Whitby on May 16.

Kingston will play home-and-home series with Clarington, Cornwall, Peterborough and Whitby, and four games each with Brockville and Gloucester. The schedule will conclude July 11 at home vs. Brockville.

The Kings will begin preseason workouts Wednesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Lawrence College gym.
