Kings embark on busy week
 Posted: June 11th, 2014 @ 12:10am
Kingston Kings will begin their busiest week of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League season Thursday when they host the Gloucester Griffins, 8 p.m., at Centre 70.
The Kings, 1-5-1, are sitting third in the Far East division. They need a win against the Griffins to stay ahead of the Gloucester club, which has just a tie in its first 11 games, but has had some success in Kingston this year, with a preseason exhibition victory and a 12-12 overtime tie last month.
Kingston's only points, meanwhile, have come at the expense of the Griffins, a 17-11 win in Ottawa May 9 and the overtime tie the following week in a game where the Kings surrendered the tying goal in the final minute of the third period and blew a two-goal lead in overtime.
Things have not gone well since for the Kings, who have lost their last four games to fall 11 points behind the second-place Cornwall Celtics.
The Gloucester game kicks off a three-game weekend for the Kings, who will play their first game of the year against the Far East division-leading Peterborough Lakers in Peterborough Friday night, before their only game this year against the Innisfil Saints, a Sunday afternoon contest in Newmarket. The Saints, 4-5, have won four of their last five games. Related Articles:
