Owen Klassen scores 17 in Acadia's losing cause
Posted: March 9th, 2013 @ 10:41pm
Acadia Axemen will play the Ottawa Gee-Gees Sunday for the bronze medal at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's basketball championship tournament in Ottawa, after the Axemen were beaten 84-69 by the Carleton Ravens in a semifinal Saturday night.
Carleton will face the Lakehead Thunderwolves for the national title Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Place.
Kingston's Owen Klassen, 3-for-9 from the field but 10-for-12 from the free-throw line, had 17 points for Acadia, along with six rebounds, two steals and two blocks, though he had to leave the game briefly in the fourth quarter after he caught an elbow in the face and was cut under his right eye.
No. 1-ranked Carleton, with just one loss this season, led the game by two points, 31-29, at halftime but the Ravens slowly took control with a 20-12 third quarter and a 33-point fourth quarter.
