Jackie Tessier the new all-time women's soccer scoring leader at Queen's

Jackie Tessier scored two goals Sunday afternoon, becoming the school's all-time scoring leader, as she led the Queen's Golden Gaels to a 4-0 Ontario University Athletics women's soccer win over the Toronto Blues.
The Gaels scored all four of their goals in the first half, as they snapped a two-game losing streak. Tessier scored the game's second and fourth goals, the first on a header and the second after taking a long through ball from Melissa Jung and picking the right corner.
They were her sixth and seventh goals of the season and the 53rd and 54th goals of Tessier's career.
That broke the mark of 53 goals established by Eilish McConville in a four-year career at Queen's, 2002-05. McConville is believed to be the all-time career scoring leader in Canadian Interuniversity Sport, adding 10 more goals in her fifth season, played as a graduate student with the Varsity Blues.
Laurier's Emily Brown, with 59 goals, is the career scoring leader among active players.
Brittany Almeida, the Regiopolis Notre Dame grad, scored the first goal of the game in its 23rd minute, from a header off a scramble. She then made two fine crosses from the right side for Tessier's first goal and another by Rachel Radu, goals that were scored two minutes apart about 10 minutes later.
Playing at the Varsity Centre in Toronto, Madison Tyrell was called to make four saves as she posted her OUA-leading fifth shutout of the season. It was just the second loss for Toronto in seven games.
On Saturday, the Gaels were edged 3-2 by the Ryerson Rams.
Tessier opened scoring in the sixth minute of play but it took the home team just two minutes to tie the score and that's the way it stayed to the end of the half. A goal by Almeida in the 67th minute gave Queen's a one-goal lead that stood until two goals by Alex Rodkin in the final two minutes, the first on a penalty kick, gave Ryerson the victory.
It was the Rams' first victory of the year.
Queen's, 4-2-1, will resume play Saturday, when they travel to Oshawa to face undefeated Ontario Tech.
In men's play Sunday, the No. 8-ranked Gaels suffered their second consecutive loss when they were defeated 2-1 by Toronto. The Blues scored the only two goals of the first half but they lost their shutout in the game's 86th minute when a Toronto defender deflected a header by Eric Koskins of the Gaels into the Blues' net for an own goal.
The Gaels couldn't mount another scoring opportunity in the time remaining.
On Saturday, the men had their season-opening six-game undefeated streak come to an end when they bowed 1-0 to No. 4-ranked Ryerson. The game was scoreless until the 83rd minute of play, when the Rams got their only goal on a header by Jamie Baker. Ryerson displayed stout defence, allowing the Gaels to direct just one shot on goal in the second half.
The Gaels played a man down from the 53rd minute, after Robert Lannan was given a red card.
Queen's, 5-2-1, will play its next game Saturday in Oshawa against Ontario Tech, 1-4-3.
