Posted: October 8th, 2014 @ 1:26am

Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers used a withering defence Tuesday to defeat the La Salle Black Knights 43-14 in a Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior A girls basketball game at Regi.

The Panthers held La Salle to less than half the 33 points it had averaged in its first four games this year. Lilie Dixon, with nine points, scored all but five of those 14 for the Knights.

Rebecca Wendland scored 11 points to lead league-leading Regi to its fifth win, without defeat. La Salle slipped to 3-2.

On a day when all the home teams won, the Holy Cross Crusaders moved into sole possession of second place, at 4-1, with a 33-18 win over the Bayridge Blazers and the Frontenac Falcons gained their first win of the season, 42-36 over the Sydenham Golden Eagles.

In B division play, Evie Sreight scored 27 points to lead the Kingston Blues to a 41-9 win over the Napanee Golden Hawks, and the Loyalist Lancers defeated the Granite Ridge Gryphons 54-16.

Loyalist, 5-1, leads second-place KC, 4-1, by two points atop B division standings.
