Ryerson Rams dominated from the opening tip, and the No. 3-ranked team in Canada defeated the Queen’s Golden Gaels 90-65 in an Ontario University Athletics men’s basketball game Saturday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.
Ryerson scored 24 points in the first quarter and the Rams led 49-29 at halftime en route to their 12th win in 14 conference games.
Queen’s fell to 4-8.
Patrick Street and Greg Faulkner led the Gaels with 16 points apiece. Kadeem Green and Aaron Best each scored 17 points for Ryerson.
The Rams' domination was thorough. They out-rebounded the Gaels 49-30, including 38-9 under the Ryerson basket. The Rams shot better than 48 per cent from the field and almost 83 per cent from the free-throw line (19-for-23), while the Gaels made just 26 of 71 shots from the field (36.6 per cent).
The Gaels will resume play Friday at Windsor.
