Frontenac Falcons advanced to the quarter-final round at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations boys AAA hockey championship Wednesday morning when they gained a 2-2 tie with Denis Morris of St. Catharines.
The Falcons, 1-0-2 in preliminary play, finished atop their four-team pool. They will meet Brebeuf of Toronto in the first round of the championship playoffs at 6 p.m. Brebeuf, 2-1 so far, won its final round-robin game, 4-1 over Barrie St. Joan of Arc, to claim the second playoff berth in Pool D.
Quarter-final winners will play in the semifinals tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock. The medal games will be played Thursday afternoon.

At the girls AAA volleyball championship in Ingersoll, the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers were eliminated from the consolation playoffs by a 3-1 semifinal defeat Wednesday morning against Jacob Hespeler of Cambridge. The Panthers finished the tournament 2-3.
