Senior Blues take over first place

Posted: April 27th, 2015 @ 10:48pm

Kingston Blues took sole possession of first place in Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior boys soccer standings Monday with a 4-0 victory over the Frontenac Falcons.

In a game of undefeated teams at Frontenac, the Falcons and Blues played a scoreless first half, a deadlock that was broken early in the second half by KC’s Sam Shore. Goals shortly thereafter by Ben Posthumus and Mark Lappan put the undefeated Blues, 3-0, into a commanding lead.

Blues goalkeeper Berg Ellemers denied a penalty kick to preserve the shutout, and Dana Lew scored on a penalty kick for KC to complete the scoring, as Frontenac fell to 2-1.

In other games Monday, the Ernestown Eagles gained their first win of the year, 9-0 over the Marie-Rivier Dragons; Bayridge remained undefeated, 2-0-1, with a 2-0 win over the Loyalist Lancers, and the Sydenham Golden Eagles, who have yet to lose this year, gained a 2-2 tie with the La Salle Black Knights, who have yet to win.

Playing at home, Sydenham got goals from Bob Cummings and Brady Robertson as the Eagles boosted their record to 1-0-2. Shawn Miller and Chris Newton scored the goals for La Salle, 0-2-1.
