Kingston’s Zach Masterson had an auspicious debut with his new team in the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League Sunday.
Masterson, the former Kingston King playing on a one-year release while the Kings take a sabbatical, had three goals—one in each period—and three assists as the Wilmot Wild defeated the Fergus Thistles 11-8.
Fergus had scored five straight goals to take a 6-2 lead late in the second period when Masterson scored his second goal of the game to stop the bleeding, with less than two minutes to play.
Masterson had a goal and two assists as Wilmot scored four times in the first eight minutes of the third period. His goal, at 7:46, put his new team ahead at 8-7, a lead the Wild kept for the remainder of the game.
