The host Napanee Express was undefeated when the rain came early Saturday night at the Softball Ontario peewee elimination tournament in Napanee.
The Express opened with a 6-0 win over Shallow Lake and followed that with an 8-3 victory over Cobourg.
Twelve teams began play in the event, seeking a berth in the eastern Canadian championship tournament, Aug. 27-30 in Newfoundland. Play at the Fairgrounds complex will resume Sunday morning.
At the midget elimination tournament in Tavistock, southeast of Stratford, Napanee dropped its first game, 7-0 to Hickson, before a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Express a 4-3 win over Kitchener-Waterloo Saturday morning.
Play was washed out after the 11 a.m. games, and organizers will be scrambling to get the remainder of the tournament finished Sunday. Napanee will resume play at 8 a.m. against Port Perry.
The midgets are chasing a spot in the Canadian championship tournament, Aug. 10-16 in Fredericton, N.B.
