Napanee Express bowed meekly Sunday morning from the Softball Ontario midget boys elimination tournament in Tavistock.
The Express, 1-1 and facing elimination, were thumped 13-0 by Port Perry.
“We just didn’t have a good weekend,” coach Scott Mills said. “Didn’t hit, didn’t pitch, didn’t field.
“Not many good things happened for us.”
After dropping a 7-0 decision to Hickson in its tournament opener, the Express stayed alive Saturday with a 4-3 victory over Kitchener-Waterloo. A two-out single by John Lamoore in the bottom of the seventh inning delivered the decisive run.
Teams in the rain-soaked double-elimination event were competing for berths in the Canadian championship tournament, Aug. 10-16 in Fredericton, N.B.
