Shoeless Joe's wins second game at junior elimination tourney

Posted: July 4th, 2015 @ 7:36pm

Cole Bolton had as many hits as he gave up Saturday afternoon, as he led Napanee Shoeless Joe’s to a 13-3 win over the Owen Sound Selects at the Ontario Amateur Softball Association junior elimination tournament in Owen Sound.

The victory, Napanee’s second of the day, sends Joe’s into the undefeated game tonight at 8 o’clock against the New Hamburg Cubs, 4-2 winners Saturday afternoon over Tavistock.

Napanee’s lead-off batter, Bolton singled in the first, third and fourth innings and his grand slam home run highlighted a seven-run Napanee fifth. He scored three runs and he finished the game with four runs batted in.

From the circle, Bolton allowed four hits and struck out five, but he was touched for two home runs.

Sloan Creighton also homered for Napanee, a three-run shot in the third inning, and he also drove in four runs.

Josh Murphy had a second-inning RBI double among his three hits for Shoeless Joe’s.

Mitch Green took the pitching loss. He gave up six runs in three-plus innings, allowing seven hits while striking out one.
