Queen’s Football Hall of Fame will swell by 18 members and three championship teams when it holds its induction ceremony Friday, Sept. 10.

The university has announced that 10 new builders and eight players will enter the hall at a banquet at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts on the eve of the Gaels’ Ontario University Athletics game with Waterloo.

As well, five men, already in the Hall as players, will be inducted for their post-graduation contributions to the program as builders.

The three teams are were all coached by Doug Hargreaves: the Vanier Cup championship teams of 1978 and 1992, as well as the Vanier Cup finalist of 1983.

The players are Rob Ball, Tom Denison, Matt Kirk, Jon Landon, James MacLean, Tony McDowell, Guy Potvin and Corey Trudeau.

The new builders are Vicki and Paul Hand, Tom Hopkins, Bob McFarlane, Alex Melvin, Joe Pal, Dan Pawliw, Sandra Plumley, Dave Ross and the Queen’s Bands. Added in the builder category are Hall of Fame players Don Bayne, Merv Daub, Skip Eaman, Stu Lang and Kent Plumley.

The Hall holds a formal induction every five years. It will now number seven teams, 37 builders and 131 players.
