Four members of the Kingston Grenadiers have been named to the Ontario Varsity Football League Wettges conference all-star team.

One of them, quarterback Dylan Fisher, is a repeat selection from 2014, one of just four players who was chosen for the second year in a row.

The other Grenadiers selected were all from the offence: rookie wide receiver Carter Matheson and tackles Chris Verheyen and Kaelan Fraser.

Fisher is one of two quarterbacks named to the all-star team. Jacob Spinella of the regular-season champion Ottawa Myers Riders is the other. They will face each other this weekend, when the Grenadiers travel to Nepean to contest the conference championship.

Spinella completed 61.5 per cent of his passes, and he led the league with 2,130 yards passing and 30 touchdowns in eight games. He had nine interceptions, tied with Fisher for the second-most in the conference.

Fisher, bound for St. Francis Xavier University at the end of the season, was fifth in the league with 1,516 yards. He threw nine touchdown passes and completed 51.6 per cent of his attempts.

In his first year of organized football, Matheson, who will attend the University of Ottawa in September, caught 32 passes, five of which went for touchdowns. His 613 receiving yards was seventh in the league.

The other three repeating all-stars in the Wettges conference are receiver Kurleigh Grimes of the Cumberland Panthers and defensive backs Luc Babin of the Metro Toronto Wildcats and Antoine Lyte-Myers of the Toronto Thunder.

The only two-position all-star is Trivel Pinto of Metro, selected as both a receiver and kick return man.

All-stars were selected in a poll of the league's coaches, who were not allowed to vote for members of their own team.

Of the 30 players named conference all-stars—15 on offence, 13 on defence, two special teams players—the West Durham Dolphins, eliminated from the playoffs Saturday by Kingston, led with six, including a conference-best four on defence. The Grenadiers, whose four players on offence led the conference, Ottawa and the Oshawa Hawkeyes each had four players chosen.
