Ultimately, the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers came away with a 24-point victory Tuesday afternoon, but that’s not all Panthers coach Lesley Stevenson left the Loyalist Collegiate gym with.
“This is the best LC team to play in along time,” Stevenson said, after Regi claimed a 55-31 win over the Lancers in Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior girls basketball play.
“Loads of potential with these girls.”
Using a balanced attack, Regi enjoyed a 32-13 lead at halftime, but Loyalist proved peskier after that, as the Panthers held just a 23-18 advantage in the second half.
Lauren Carson scored six points for the Lancers, who dropped their second game of the young season.
In other games:
Mariah Emmons scored 11 points to lead the Bayridge Blazers past the visiting Ernestown Eagles, 24-19, and the Holy Cross Crusaders posted a 58-12 home-court victory over the Napanee Golden Hawks.
