Front-runners all win in high school field hockey play

Posted: October 5th, 2015 @ 10:48pm

A goal by Lilly Dixon was the only one of the game as the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers handed the Bayridge Blazers their first defeat of the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association field hockey season Monday.

Playing at Bayridge, the Panthers capitalized on just one of many scoring opportunities but they still managed to be one of three teams to improve to 5-0.

The others also did so by shutout, as the Kingston Blues blanked the Sydenham Golden Eagles 1-0 at Tindall Field, while at Caraco Field the Holy Cross Crusaders whipped the winless Loyalist Lancers 9-0.

Mary Frost scored the only goal of the game for KC, as Sydenham, after a 2-0 start, is now without a win in its last three games. Cam Champagne-Hartley posted the shutout.

In other games Monday, Maeve Lovelace scored twice to lead the La Salle Black Knights to their first win of the season, 2-0 over the winless Ernestown Eagles, and the Napanee Golden Hawks won for the second time in their last three games, as a goal by Hailey Lambert gave them a 1-0 win over the Frontenac Falcons.

Play resumes Wednesday with four games, as the three front-runners put their undefeated streaks on the line when Regi plays Frontenac, Holy Cross faces Sydenham and KC plays Bayridge.
