The gulf between the haves and have-nots among the high school field hockey teams in the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association is growing wider by the day.

On Wednesday, the three top teams all remained undefeated, while the best of the rest continues to struggle to reach .500.

In a doubleheader at Caraco Field, the Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers improved to 6-0 with a 1-0 win over the Frontenac Falcons, while the Holy Cross Crusaders kept pace with a 1-0 win over the Sydenham Golden Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Kingston Blues were extending their season-long winning streak to six games with a 3-1 victory at Bayridge. At the other end of the standings, the Loyalist Lancers gained their first win of the season, 1-0 over the winless Ernestown Eagles.

Alexis Pereira scored the only of the game for Regi in the last minute of the first half. The Panthers maintained their perfect record, defensively, as they remain the only team in the league not to have surrendered a goal this year.

Holy Cross retained its perfect record by being the latest of the top teams to beat Sydenham, a team that started the year 2-0 but is winless in its last four games.

Tiama Cifala, Kiko Kelway and Maddie Cornelius shared the scoring as KC defeated Bayridge on O’Connor Field. The Blazers, who haven’t won in three games after a 3-0 start, are the only other team in the league above .500, at 3-2-1.

In Odessa, Kay Byers-Richards, with an assist by Trina Murphy, scored to give Loyalist its win over Ernestown, the Lancers' first in six games.

Play resumes today, when the La Salle Black Knights, 1-4, visit the Napanee Golden Eagles, 2-3.
