Tryouts begin for Kings' junior lacrosse season

Posted: March 31st, 2013 @ 11:27pm

Coach Mike Dube will begin auditioning players for the Kingston Kings' 2013 Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League season Wednesday, 8 p.m., at Wally Elmer Arena.

The Kings will hold sessions each of the next three Wednesdays before moving to their home arena, Centre 70, for final tryouts April 24 and 25. In lieu of hosting a preseason tournament, the Kings have scheduled a home-and-home exhibition series with the Gloucester Griffins April 27 in Ottawa and Sunday, April 28, at Centre 70.

Kingston will open its regular schedule Thursday, May 9, at home against Gloucester.

The Kings have graduated three players from last year's team - Boo Green, Tom Buckley and David Murawsky. The team is expecting its top 10 scorers and starting goaltender David Joseph to return from the team that finished 5-11 in 2012.

Twenty-seven different players attended optional pre-camp workouts at St. Lawrence College in March, including seven graduates of last year's Ontario champion Kingston Krossfire midget team.
