Frontenacs 50th
Posted: April 9th, 2013 @ 4:56pm
Today's installment in a daily series that recalls the story of the 1962-63 Kingston Frontenacs, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their Eastern Professional Hockey League championship season:

The Kingston Frontenacs go through an afternoon workout on the day before opening the Eastern Professional Hockey League championship series with the Sudbury Wolves at the Community Centre. They spent most of it shooting pucks at goaltender Bruce Gamble.
"The practice was for Bruce's benefit more than anything," said playing assistant coach Harry Sinden. "Bruce missed the last game of the season with an injury and we concentrated on firing pucks at him from all angles in order to sharpen him up for tomorrow's game."
That didn't mean Sinden was worried about his goaltender, who played 10 games in Sudbury this year, winning six and tying two others.
"In every game Bruce was the outstanding player," Sinden told Ron Brown of the Whig-Standard. "It's hard to explain, but Bruce just seems to play extremely well in the Sudbury arena."
