Today's installment in a daily series that recalls the story of the 1962-63 Kingston Frontenacs, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their Eastern Professional Hockey League championship season:
Fifty years ago today, Sunday, February 17, 1963
Brian Smith scored the first goal of the game for Hull-Ottawa, and the Canadiens went on to defeat the Sudbury Wolves 3-2. The Wolves were playing their third game in the third city in three days and the Canadiens took advantage to move two points ahead of the idle Kingston Frontenacs into sole possession of first place.
