Kingston runners in Boston Marathon rocked by explosions

Kingston's Randy Zabukovec was the top local finisher today in a Boston Marathon that was rocked by two explosions at the finish line.
Three people are dead and upwards of 200 people were injured - many with severed limbs - by bombs that went off at about 2:45 p.m. Zabukovec, 43, went off in the first wave of competitors at 10 a.m. He finished the 41.2-kilometre course in 3 hours 43 seconds, about an hour before the explosions.
He was 2,208th in the field of more than 20,000 runners.
Sheldon Cook, 44, of Inverary, was next among local competitors, finishing in 3 hours 7 minutes 42 seconds, 3,310th overall. He was followed by David Markotich, 46, of Harrowsmith, in 3:09:31, and Tom Adair, 46, of Kingston 1n 3:10.11.
Wendy Schlottke, 44, was the 385th woman across the finish line, after 3 hours 11 minutes, 47 seconds.
Other local runners in the field were Leslie Reade, 42, of Harrowsmith (3:20:40), Danae Krahn, 25, of Kingston (3:37:59), Susan Sly, 40, of Kingston (3:38:03), Karen Milson, 50, of Kingston (3:39.11), Paul Cehan, 48, of Battersea (3:52:53) and Doreen Skrok, 42, of Kingston (4:16:52).
Starting in the second wave of runners at 10:20, Skrok would have been across the finish line about 10 minutes before the blasts. Related Articles:
