Today's installment in a daily feature that looks back at this date in Kingston junior hockey playoff history.

Peterborough Petes push the Kingston Frontenacs to the brink of elimination with a 5-1 victory before Kingston's seventh straight sellout crowd of 3,300 at the Memorial Centre. The win puts Peterborough up 3-1 in the best-of-seven Ontario Hockey League semifinal series.
Only one of the four games in the series - the first one - has been decided on home ice. On this night, Peterborough led 1-0 after the first period and 4-1 after the second, and outshot Kingston 49-33 in the game.
Mike Harding, with two, Dave Roche, Cory Stillman and Dale McTavish scored for the Petes. Keli Corpse scored Kingston's only goal.
Stillman's goal, the first shorthanded goal surrendered by Kingston in the playoffs, was pivotal. It came after Frontenacs goaltender Tyler Moss, trying to play the puck behind his net, fell down. Coming less than three minutes after Roche, with his 10th goal of the playoffs, gave the Petes a 2-0 lead 14 seconds into the second period, it was a blow Kingston could not overcome.
