Posted: May 24th, 2013 @ 12:05am
Kingston Kings scored six goals in the second period and rolled to a 10-4 win over the Gloucester Griffins in an Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League game Thursday night at Centre 70.
It was the second win of the season for the Kings, 2-3, who resume their schedule Tuesday in Brockville. Gloucester, winless for the season, dropped its fifth game in a row.
The Kings led 3-0 when Gloucester scored its first goal of the game with 5.5 seconds left in the first period. Kingston scored twice in the first six minutes of the second period, and two goals in the final 39 seconds of the period sent the Kings into the third with a 9-2 lead.
Haneh Brant scored three goals for Kingston, which got two goals from Josh Smith. Jake Evoy, who began the season with the junior B Nepean Knights, had a goal and an assist in his first game back with the Kings.
Jay Waller, Kyle Aylesworth, Zach Masterson and Jonah Lewis also scored once each for the Kings. Masterson added three assists.
Masterson's goal, his third shorthanded goal in two games, came with his team playing two men short early in the second period. For Lewis, it was the first goal of his junior career.
Nick Finlay, David Plots, Caleb Grant and Ben Tutty shared the Gloucester goals.
Kingston outshot the visitors 63-39. Nic McFarlane made 35 saves in the Kings' goal for the first victory of his junior career. Related Articles:
