Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers are 1-1 after the first day of play at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations girls AAA soccer championship in Windsor.
The Panthers dropped their first game 5-0 to the tournament's second seed, Belle River, Thursday morning. In the afternoon, Regi scored the only goal of the second half to gain a 3-2 win over Belleville Centennial.
Emily Rowsell scored twice and Sadie Morris once for Regi, which will conclude preliminary-round play Friday against Loyola of Mississauga, the eighth-seeded team at the tournament, and Senator O'Connor of Toronto.
Belle River is undefeated after two games and Loyola has a win and a tie. Senator O'Connor has a tie to show for its two games, and Centennial is winless. The top two teams in the pool will advance to the quarter-final round Friday afternoon. Related Articles:
