With two weeks to go Kings eye fourth place

Kingston Kings hit the road for their only game this week, Thursday night in Cornwall against the defending East division champion Celtics.
The Kings, 5-7-1, begin the penultimate week of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League season in fourth place, with a two-point cushion over the Whitby Warriors. Kingston has three games left to play - at Cornwall and at Gloucester, before ending the schedule at home versus Brockville - while Whitby has four games remaining: at home to Brockville, Cornwall and Peterborough, before wrapping up their schedule at Peterborough.
The importance of finishing fourth lies in getting the advantage of first and extra home game in the best-of-five first round of playoffs. Kingston must finish ahead of Whitby to claim fourth place, since the Warriors won the regular-season series with the Kings and would be favoured if the teams end the regular year in a tie.
Thursday's game will be Kingston's second in a row against Cornwall, which won 10-6 at Centre 70 last Thursday. Since then, the Celtics improved their record to 11-2 with a 6-5 overtime victory at home Saturday against the Peterborough Lakers.
Offensively, the Kings have established themselves as a force to be respected. They have three players among the league's top 13 individual scorers - Kyle Aylesworth (24 goals, 19 assists, 43 points), Haneh Brant (19-19-38) and Josh Smith (21-14-35). Only East division-leading Clarington can also claim three players among the league's Top 13.
In addition, in just six games since returning home from prep school in Indiana, Alec Johnston has eight goals and 23 points, a pace of 3.83 points per game, sixth best in the league.
Cornwall, meanwhile, puts a more balanced attack on the floor, with eight players on the roster with 10 goals or more. An example of that balance is the fact the Celtics defeated Peterborough with just one goal from their top top five scorers combined.
