Frontenacs 50th
Posted: March 8th, 2013 @ 11:20am
Today's installment in a daily series that recalls the story of the 1962-63 Kingston Frontenacs, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their Eastern Professional Hockey League championship season:
Fifty years ago today, Friday, March 8, 1963
Goaltender Roger Crozier makes 32 saves to lead the last-place St. Louis Braves to a 3-2 win over the Hull-Ottawa Canadiens Friday, spoiling the Canadiens' chance to move into a first-place tie with idle Kingston.
The winning goal came from Murray Hall midway through the third period, when he tipped a shot from the blue line by Rino Robazza past Canadiens goaltender Cesare Maniago. That made the score 3-1 and though Keith McCreary scored with a little more than five minutes to play the Canadiens, despite outshooting the visitors 15-9 in the third period, could not tie the score.
St. Louis will play in Kingston on Saturday night, then go back to Hull for a game Sunday afternoon. Related Articles:
