Strong start, finish lead Regi past Bayridge
 Posted: October 10th, 2014 @ 1:48am
Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers scored the first 10 points of the game Thursday and they went on to post their sixth straight win of the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association senior A girls basketball season, 44-23 over the Bayridge Blazers.
Playing at Bayridge, the teams were fairly evenly matched through the middle two periods but the Panthers were just as tough at the end of the game as they were at the beginning, as they did not permit the home team to score a point in the fourth quarter.
Regi, 6-0, got 10 points from Hailey Wolfgram and eight from Teigen Rook. Alyssa Platt scored nine points for Bayridge, which slipped to 1-5.
In Thursday's other senior A game, the Holy Cross Crusaders stayed within two points of league-league Regi with a 37-15 win over the Golden Eagles at Sydenham.
Play resumes with a single game Tuesday at Frontenac, where the Falcons will host the La Salle Black Knights.
The Kingston Blues, meanwhile, moved into a first-place tie with the idle Loyalist Lancers in senior B division Thursday, as they dumped the Granite Ridge Gryphons 58-6. Ernestown improved to 4-2 the easy way, as they were granted a forfeit victory over the Napanee Golden Hawks.
