The deadline looms to submit nominations for the 35th annual Kiwanis Amateur Athlete of the Year award.
To be eligible, athletes must have roots in Kingston and not have turned professional before the end of 2014.
Nomination forms are available from award chairman Fred Leavitt — leavittf11@gmail.com — and they must be returned by Jan. 9.
Finalists will be selected by a panel of Kiwanians and sports media representatives and the Gus Marker Trophy will be presented at a banquet in February. Last year the award was won by Genevieve Lacasse, a goaltender with the national women’s hockey team.
