Kingston Impact teams won medals in four divisions Sunday at its sixth annual Mega Tournament.

Two of them, in major atom AA division and major bantam AA division, were poor hosts, winning their respective championships, while the major atom A and major bantam A Impact teams received silver medals.

In major bantam AA competition, the Impact was 4-0 in preliminary play and defeated Dawson Community College 42-36 in the championship game at La Salle Secondary School. Dawson had also been unbeaten in its pool.

The major atom AA Impact avenged a two-point loss in preliminary play as they defeated Gloucester 27-26 in the championship game at Sir John A. Macdonald Public School. Gloucester had been unbeaten to that point in the tournament.

After posting a perfect 3-0 record in the preliminary round, the major bantam A Impact defeated Ottawa Next Level 25-15 in a semifinal game Sunday morning. In a battle of undefeated teams in the championship match at Frontenac Secondary School, however, the Impact fell 32-21 to the Mississauga Jaguars.

In major atom A division, the Impact split its two round-robin games and then defeated the Nepean Blue Devils 21-20 in a semifinal match. In the final at Kingston Collegiate, the Impact bowed 23-20 to the Ottawa Shooting Stars.

Kingston teams were not so successful in major midget competition. In the double-A tournament, the Impact finished third in its pool at 1-2, but won the consolation final at Holy Cross Secondary School 32-21 over the Belleville Spirits. In the single-A competition, the No. 2 Impact team was winless in three games in preliminary play.

Forty-four teams from across eastern Ontario competed in six divisions over three days.
