Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers knocked the Sydenham Golden Eagles from the ranks of the undefeated Monday, handing the Eagles a 2-0 defeat in a Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association field hockey defeat in a rain-soaked game at Regi.

Lilly Dixon and Jen Cowan each scored a goal, and Lize Freundorfer made two spectacular saves to make them stand up for Regi’s third win in as many games. Sydenham, whose field renovations have rendered it a travelling team this year, lost for the first time in three contests.

The win allowed the Panthers to retain a share of first place with Bayridge, Holy Cross and Kingston, all of whom also prevailed in soggy conditions to improve to 3-0. The Blazers blanked the Loyalist Lancers 4-0, the Crusaders defeated the Frontenac Falcons 2-0 and KC trimmed the La Salle Black Knights 4-3.

Bayridge scored four goals in the first half of its game at Loyalist, two apiece by Sydney Stewart and Katelyn Mackey. Blazers goaltender Chelsea Herman earned the shutout, her third of the season.

A goal by Laura Collings in the first half, and another by Gracie Knapp-Herner at the end of the game, lifted Holy Cross to its third win. The Crusaders have also not allowed a goal so far this year.

In a game at La Salle, the winless Knights gave KC all it could handle in what turned out to be the highest-scoring game of the year. Kiko Kelway, with two, Maddie Cornelius and Katrina Hamburger scored for the Blues, while Emily Santin, Hailey McLaren and Ali Santin scored for La Salle.

In Monday’s other game, the Napanee Golden Hawks got their first win of the year, a 2-0 home-field victory over the Ernestown Eagles. The winners got goals from Kari Hollett and Ella King and shutout goalkeeping from Emily Rattie.

Play resumes Tuesday, when Loyalist plans KC at Tindall Field.
