Regiopolis Notre Dame Panthers bowed from competition at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations field hockey championship in Peterborough Friday morning, after they were defeated 1-0 by the fourth-seeded Clarkson Chargers of Mississauga at Sir Sandford Fleming College.
The Panthers, who entered the 16-team tournament as the No. 5 seed, were 1-2 in preliminary competition and failed to qualify for the playoff round.
Clarkson, undefeated in the round robin, and Bill Crothers of Unionville, 2-1, were the teams that advanced to the quarter-final round from the pool.
On the opening day of the tournament Thursday, Regi, undefeated Kingston Area and eastern Ontario champion, defeated Haliburton Highlands 2-0 before suffering its first loss of the season, 1-0 to Crothers.
Clarkson won its quarter-final game Friday afternoon and will play Kitchener Resurrection in a semifinal Saturday morning.
