Today's installment in a daily feature that looks back at this date in Kingston junior hockey playoff history.
Thirty-seven years ago, Tuesday, March 23, 1976
Two goals 14 seconds apart in the 17th minute of the third period lift the Ottawa 67's into a 3-3 tie with the Kingston Canadians and a 3-1 lead in their eight-point Ontario Hockey League quarter-final series.
After missing the first game of the series with the mumps, Peter Lee scored two goals for the 67's, including the first of the two in the third period. Larry Skinner beat Canadians goaltender Bob Mears for the tying score.
Ron Davidson, Larry Murphy and Mike Crombeen scored for Kingston, which squandered a 2-0 first-period lead. Related Articles:
