Today in Kingston junior hockey playoff history

Today's installment in a daily feature that looks back at this date in Kingston junior hockey playoff history.
Wednesday, March 26, 1975
The regular-season champion Toronto Marlboros, minus six regulars - including scoring champion Bruce Boudreau - score three goals in a five-minute span early in the second period and two more in the dying minute of the game to defeat Kingston 5-1 in the first playoff game in the history of the Kingston Canadians.
Playing in Brantford, John Anderson, Mike Kaszycki, John Smrke, Mike McEwen and Mark Murphy score for the Marlboros, who in addition to the five who are injured also do without John Tonelli, who sat out the game in a contract dispute. It has been reported that Tonelli has signed a contract to play as an underage player next year with Houston of the World Hockey Association, and doesn't want to jeopardize that contract by possibly getting hurt before he gets there.
Barry Scully ruined Steve Bosco's shutout bid in the second period, as Kingston climbed back to within 3-1.
"The Canadians skated stride for stride with the slick Marlboros for the full 60 minutes," Art Wright wrote in the Whig-Standard, "but the effects of an eight-day layoff showed up in their shooting. They were missing open corners repeatedly when the numerous scoring chances they had presented themselves."
