Aylesworth scores eight in Ohio Valley victory

Posted: April 11th, 2013 @ 10:27pm

Kingston's Kyle Aylesworth came off the bench Wednesday to score eight goals and lead Ohio Valley to a 13-11 win over Alderson-Broaddus in an ECAC Division 2 lacrosse game in Philippi, W.Va.

Ohio Valley was trailing 6-3 at halftime when Aylesworth, a member of the Kingston Kings of the Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League in the summer box season, scored in the third minute of the third quarter. He then scored three goals in a span of 2:01 late in the period, as the Fighting Scots battled to tie the score 8-8 going into the fourth quarter.

Aylesworth sored four goals in the fourth quarter, three of them in the last five minutes of the game, including the go-ahead goal with 1:59 to play and an insurance goal in the closing minute. It was the first conference victory of the season for Ohio Valley, which is now 1-3 in league play.

Aylesworth, named this week as the outstanding freshman in the ECAC for the week ending April 7, has scored 21 goals in three games this month, including a pair of non-conference wins last week.
