Kings beaten in Clarington

CLARINGTON - Kingston Kings dropped their second game in a row Wednesday night, 11-3 to the three-time defending Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League champion Clarington Shamrox.
The defeat leaves the Kings with a 1-2 record to take into Thursday night's game at Centre 70 against the Whitby Warriors. Kingston's fourth game in eight days will commence at 8 o'clock.
As they did Friday night in Peterborough, the Kings scored first, with Haneh Brant's fourth goal of the young season coming just 36 seconds into the game. Clarington led 3-1 at the end of the first period and 5-1 midway through the second when the Kings briefly caught fire. Two goals by Kyle Aylesworth, just over two minutes apart, lifted Kingston to within 5-3.
Clarington, 2-0, scored twice before the period ended, however, stretching the lead to 7-3 with a power-play goal in the final minute of play. The Shamrox scored the only four goals of the third period, while the Kings were held scoreless in a period for the second time this year.
Aylesworth finished the game with two goals and an assist, while Josh Smith had two assists for Kingston.
Captain Garrett Williams had two goals and six assists for the Shamrox, who got three goals from Wil Stroud. Keenan Cook and Aaron Woods scored two goals apiece, with Cook adding four assists.
Nic McFarlane, making his first start of the season in goal for the Kings, faced 52 shots. The Kings directed 41 shots at Clarington goaltender Josh O'Neill.
